NASA- Langley Research Center conducts drop model flight tests of reduced scale high performance aircraft prior to flight testing of the full scale aircraft. This testing is used to learn about aero behavior at the edges of the flight envelope. X-29 was a Forward Swept Wing design, conceived as an approach that would be highly maneuverable. Pioneer has designed and built parachute systems for several of these drop model aircraft, including the X-29. The parachute systems were designed to safely recover these aircraft under all flight circumstances.
